January will end with springlike temperatures in North Texas

Forecast Update [Saturday 1/30 7:45 am]

***80º today ~ 25 deg above normal***
***Wind gusts to 40 mph late afternoon/tonight***

This is an update to the original forecast from Monday 1/25 — The only change is to raise high temperatures for today as I mentioned would be possible in the Monday forecast update.

The springlike weather that I predicted in a forecast update this past Monday is here. It will also be windy late today through tonight. I expect winds to increase to 20 to 30 mph this afternoon, then into the 25-35 mph range late this evening/overnight (gusts to 40 mph possible). High today around 80º. A few locations may reach the lower 80s. High tomorrow in the mid to upper 70s.

I do not expect any rain over the next 5 days, but a Pacific front will bring cooler temperatures by Wednesday.

Forecast Summary
• Today: High around 80º. Wind increasing to 20-30 mph this afternoon, then 25-35 mph tonight. Gusts to 40 mph possible.
• Sunday: Clear. High in the mid to upper 70s.
• Monday: Partly cloudy. High near 80º.
• Tuesday: Partly cloudy. High in the mid 60s. Windy (25 to 35 mph, gusts to 40 mph).
• Wednesday: Clear. High in the upper 40s.
• Thursday: Clear. High near 50º.

Monday January 25, 2016

By the weekend, temperatures in North Texas will be 20 to 25 degrees above normal, with highs in the mid 70s to near 80º.  In a future forecast update, I may raise temperatures for Saturday and possibly lower them a degree or two for Sunday.  It’s possible that Saturday may be near 80º in parts of the metroplex.

The only night with near-freezing temperatures will be Tuesday night (1/26).  For most of the DFW metroplex, I expect temperatures to stay just a degree or two above freezing, but it will be close.  It will also be our last potential freeze until next Tuesday night.

There isn’t too much to say otherwise; my forecast graphic pretty much says it all…

Note: The low temperatures displayed represent morning lows on that day.
